Nous avons eu les concours de discours et d’improvisation à notre club Toastmasters la semaine dernière. Félicitations à tous les participants !

Ce mardi 30 janvier, nous aurons une réunion spéciale à notre club Toastmasters à Montréal. En effet, nous organiserons un concours de club (c.-à-d. un concours de discours préparé et un concours d’improvisation).

La soirée aura un format différent de nos réunions hebdomadaires, mais c’est toujours très intéressant d’y assister. Par exemple, voici comment se déroule habituellement la partie du concours d’improvisation :

Au début du concours, tous les concurrents sont invités à quitter la salle.  À tour de rôle, chaque concurrent est escorté à nouveau dans la salle, et devra donner un discours non-préparé pour répondre à une question qu’ils entendront pour la première fois.  La question (le sujet d’improvisation) sera lue par le président du concours, et tous les concurrents auront la même question.

La durée de chaque discours sera de 2 minutes. (Les discours moins de 1 minute et plus de 2 minutes 30 secondes seront éliminés.)

Les juges évalueront les discours en se basant sur plusieurs objectifs, notamment: le contenu (développement du discours, efficacité), le rendu du discours (présentation physique, voix), et le langage (justesse, exactitude).  Si vous voulez en savoir plus, veuillez consulter le Guide et bulletin de vote des juges pour le Concours d’improvisation).

Enfin, ce qui peut surtout intéresser les membres de l’auditoire, c’est de voir les styles différents d’improvisation qu’il peut y avoir. Cela nous permet aussi de noter les points forts de chaque concurrent, et de comparer mentalement à comment nous aurions répondu à la question si nous aussi avions été sommés à y répondre.

A big congratulations to our member Nadine, for having won first place at the English Humorous Speech Contest that was held at the Toastmasters District 61 Fall Conference.  This is the highest distinction given for this category within Toastmasters.

La réunion du mardi 3 octobre sera une soirée spéciale à notre club Toastmasters à Montréal. Nous organiserons le Concours Toastmasters du secteur 54 (division F, district 61). Ce concours est composé de concours de discours humoristiques et de concours d’évaluation.

Bien que la soirée ne sera pas dans le format standard de nos réunions hebdomadaires, c’est toujours très intéressant d’y assister. Par exemple, voici comment se déroule habituellement un concours d’évaluation de discours :

• Il y aura un orateur cible (c’est à dire quelqu’un qui donnera un discours, et cette personne aura été choisie secrètement à l’avance pour préparer un discours pour ce concours). Tout l’auditoire aura l’occasion d’entendre le discours, incluant les concurrents (les évaluateurs) qui évalueront tous ce même discours.
• Ensuite, les évaluateurs seront invités à quitter la salle et à prendre quelques minutes pour préparer leurs notes d’évaluation.

Congratulations to our members who competed and did amazingly well as the Division F contests.

Jessica-Ruth Racine won first place for the French International Speech Contest.

Charles Deschênes won first place for the French Table Topics Contest.

Pietro di Benedetto came in a close second for the English International Speech Contest.

For the English Table Topics contest, unfortunately there was one disqualification due to timing.  We believe that Alex Chan went overtime by literally just a couple of seconds, or otherwise he would have surely been at the podium as well.  Best of luck next time around!
