Dear St Lawrence Toastmasters!

I hope you all had the chance to enjoy a beautiful summer! While this year was certainly unusual and challenging it its own way, the weather was outstanding!

As we are preparing to slowly come back and plan the upcoming term, I want to share with you some important information.

As previously mentioned, my vision for this term is to

Offer members the best possible learning opportunity in times of uncertainty.

For that, we have chosen the annual theme:

Flourish

A short definition:

A person, or other living organism that grows or develops in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.

We thought our club, and especially during this time, represents this well.

Also, we had the chance to hold our first club executive committee meeting last Tuesday at the Château St-Ambroise. After having spoken with the restaurant owner, we are glad to announce that we are allowed to start our in-person club meetings, as the restaurant can provide an environment where we can respect all measures for the health and safety of our members and guests.

Instead of meeting at the restaurant, we are allowed to use the large room across the yard: “Espace Canal”. This will allow us to keep the necessary physical distance and respect all measures set forth by the government. In order to reinforce the health and safety of everybody, the executive committee has established a set of rules in relation to COVID-19. Please see the attached document.

As every year, the season will start the first Tuesday after Labour Day. This year on September 8th.
