Dear friends and members,

Yes, our yearly summer break is almost over!  Our club will be back to its regular Toastmasters meeting schedule starting on Tuesday September 6.

We hope you’ve had a chance to enjoy some of the wonderful things Montreal has to offer during the summer, such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Montreal International Fireworks Competition, the Just for Laughs Festival, and the Fantasia Film Festival!

We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.  And until then, to take full advantage of what’s left of this summer, here’s a site with some suggestions of other activities in Montreal: Bonjour Québec’s comprehensive list of upcoming special events in the Montreal area.

It’s finally up! The video of the workshop given by Alex Chan at the Toastmasters District 61 Spring Conference is now online!

A great thank you to Frank Schilder for having taken pictures throughout the District 61 Toastmasters Spring Conference. Frank is quite the busy man (for example, currently Area Governor for Area 12 (in Ottawa), and is a member of Advanced Speakers Toastmasters Club) and nevertheless took the time to be involved throughout the weekend conference.

Félicitations à nos concurrents Italo Magni et à Pietro di Benedetto, qui nous ont fièrement représentés lors des concours de discours qui ont eu lieu cette fin de semaine lors de la Conférence Toastmasters du printemps du District 61.

Italo a reçu le deuxième prix lors du Concours de discours international en français.

Pietro a reçu le deuxième prix lors du Concours de discours international en anglais.

Félicitations aussi à Alex Chan qui a donné un atelier sur la création de site web de club Toastmasters, pour aider les membres d’autres clubs Toastmasters à créer leur site web.

Notre club s’est beaucoup impliqué lors des activités cette fin de semaine. Michel Gadbois a fièrement montré la bannière de notre club lors du défilé des bannières qui a eu lieu à la Cérémonie d’ouverture officielle de la conférence. Véronique Sangin-Gagnon a aidé aux activités audio-visuelles de l’évènement. John Fowler a consacré deux heures à aider Pietro pour les touche finales de son discours la veille du concours. Mathieu Savage a préparé l’introduction à l’atelier d’Alex. Et Marie-Paule Gagnon a fièrement aidé tout au long du weekend!

We are presently at the Toastmasters District 61 Spring Conference, attending great contests and wonderful workshops.

Yesterday (Saturday) morning, we had a wonderful speech by our member Pietro di Benedetto, who gave a stellar performance during the English International Speech Contest, who competed along with 6 other worthy contestants.

Pietro’s speech was entitled, “The love of the game“.

The results aren’t in yet, but we’re crossing our fingers for you Pietro. We’re hoping that you’ve hit a home run!

Notre membre Mathieu Savage (et président actuel de notre club) nous fait part de cette vidéo qu’il a trouvé bien intéressante.

Produite par la Harvard Business Review, la vidéo parle du langage corporel et de son impact sur le leadership. Comme mentionne Mathieu, “Courte et efficace, je pense que cette vidéo plaira aux membres.”
