A big thanks to Shirley Damant, Toastmasters Area 55 Governor, (call her Princess O’Shirley) for having organized the participation of several Montreal Toastmasters clubs in the St. Patrick’s Parade this year. This is the first time that Toastmasters has been in a Montreal parade!

Shirley invited many Toastmasters clubs to attend, such as:

We recently had the privilege of hearing a speech from our long-time Toastmasters member Christian, based on The Better Speaker’s Series. He talked about how to prepare a well-crafted introduction that establishes the speaker’s authority and expertise, and helps to set the tone for the speech.

Christian kindly prepared an article on this subject so that it can be of benefit to all of us Toastmasters.

As some of our members prepare for the upcoming Toastmasters Regional Speech and Table Topics Contests, we offer the following “Table Topics Strategies”.

These strategies were compiled by our Toastmasters member Elodie, based on an article by Craig Harrison in Toastmaster Magazine entitled Turning the Tables On Table Topics. Elodie won the annual English Table Topics contest at our club in 2010.

Nous accueillons très chaleureusement deux nouvelles membres à notre club St. Lawrence Toastmasters Montréal.

Lorena est représentante en développement d’affaires dans le secteur des équipements médicaux et de laboratoire. Puisqu’elle elle interagit avec une grande clientèle, elle est donc intéressée à améliorer ses habiletés de communiquer efficacement. Et c’est exactement une des choses que Toastmasters peut aider à faire.

Lorena et Héléna accueillies par notre président Mathieu

Héléna est consultante en formation et mentorat professionnel. Ancienne membre Toastmasters à Québec, elle connait bien les bénéfices de l’expérience que Toastmasters peut apporter. Avant de se joindre à notre club, elle s’était fixée une mission de visiter trois clubs Toastmasters à Montréal. Le premier club qu’elle a visité était le nôtre. Ensuite, pour sa deuxième visite de club, elle a décidé de visiter le club St. Lawrence Toastmasters . Et finalement, pour sa troisième visite, et forte de ses deux premières expériences, Héléna fut convaincue que c’était bien ici à notre club qu’elle voulait être membre.
