Dear members and guests:
Please note that for the St-Lawrence Toastmasters Montreal meeting of November 20, we will be organizing it in a slightly different format that our regular meetings. If you are familiar with the typical Toastmasters meeting format, there are three components to the educational portion: Table Topics (to help members to think on their feet), Prepared Speeches (to help members to hone in on their speaking skills), and Speech Evaluations (to help members improve their listening and feedback-giving skills).  At the November 20 meeting, we will be have a triple Table Topics session and shall therefore drop out the Prepared Speeches portion that evening.

English Speech Evaluation Contest

And big congratulations to our member Nicholas Kepper, who participated in the the English Speech Evaluation Contest.  Unfortunately there were some microphone problems (i.e. microphone did not work) that made it hard for the audience (and judges) at the back of the large conference room to hear.  Nicholas humbly told us that this was a great learning experience nonetheless.  We look forward to you competing next year!

Photos to follow shortly!

We would like to welcome our new members Ilya, Monica, and Carlo (shown left-to-right in the picture below with our club president Martina).

Monica Ilya Carlo

Monica would like to get a better grasp of public speaking, and also learn to not be shy when giving presentations.

Ilya thinks that public speaking is tremendously important (for example, he saw the value that public speaking can have during the recent US elections).

Carlo is already very keen to get started in the Toastmasters adventure.  He already received his Toastmasters New Member Kit.  (This includes, among others, the Competent Communication manual, a workbook of 10 speech projects, to help members develop their Public Speaking Skills.  Also included is the Competent Leadership manual, with projects to help members develop their Leadership Skills.)

As a matter of fact, all three members will be giving their Ice Breaker speeches at our next meeting.
