Every week we have a different theme of the evening.  The theme helps to give somewhat of a connecting thread to all the activities that take place during the meeting.

For example, when the Sgt-at-arms begins the meeting or when the Toastmaster first speaks, talking about the theme is a nice way to break the ice and warm up the atmosphere for the evening.  The theme is especially useful for the Table Topics session, since the questions that the Table Topics Master will ask will be based on the theme.  (Table Topics is part of the meeting where members practice impromptu speaking, thereby improving their ability to quickly “think on their feet”.)
